MILWAUKEE – After unanimous approval by the County Board of Supervisors, Nancy Lieberman Charities and Fiserv will fund a new state-of-the-art basketball court at Sherman Park through its Dream Courts program.
“This project is vital to both reimagining Sherman Park and Milwaukee County’s vision of becoming the healthiest county by achieving racial equity,” said Supervisor Felesia A. Martin. “I have held numerous listening sessions and town halls around the neighborhood. The residents have repeatedly asked for updated facilities to exercise and enjoy the park. I thank Nancy Lieberman and her foundation for helping make this a reality.”
Supervisor Martin spearheaded the effort to receive the donation along with the Milwaukee County Parks Department.
Nancy Lieberman Charities and Fiserv also plan to include ongoing programming in the park with its donation centered on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), athletics, and civic engagement.
Nancy Lieberman Charities is a Texas-based children’s charity, founded by Basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman.
The organization has helped fund nearly 100 basketball courts across the country through the Dream Courts program, including a court in Racine, Wis. in 2019.
